Lighthouser Melbourne, Australia Fusing exuberant videogame-inspired synths with affecting lyrics, Lighthouser's left-field pop songs explore potentially dark subject matter with sincerity and humour, in a fashion that would appeal to any fan of 2000s indie music - or anyone who's ever played a Nintendo game.

 

James Gales is a Melbourne-based electronic musician, composer and multi-instrumentalist. His work draws from a virtuosic background majoring in classical piano at the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music, as well as eclectic performance experience as a jazz pianist, violinist, guitarist and DJ.

As a solo artist he makes introverted synthpop under the alias Lighthouser and immersive videogame-inspired soundscapes as Jim Nopédie, which have received attention from Triple J and Trouble Juice. As a collaborator, James has written music for the (twice) Green Room-nominated musical Romeo Is Not The Only Fruit, and Margot Tanjutco’s Golden Gibbo-nominated cabaret Vanity Fair Enough.
